Attention:
DL Media Cart Owners
POLYCOM
RECALLS
BATTERY
|
 Print Version
PolyCom, the company that manufactured the wireless microphone speakers for the DL Media carts, has notified our vendor of a possible problem with the rechargeable battery that came with the unit. They are issuing a recall on the battery due to a heat build-up that occurs whenever the unit is plugged into a power source. An order has been placed for replacement batteries; however, our vendor has not yet been notified as to when to expect delivery.
In addition to the battery recall, SNDLC is planning a PolyCom system upgrade this summer. The purpose of the upgrade is to remove the wiring that currently plugs into an audio card on the computer. This has been a point of failure in those situations where the unit may have been unplugged.
The summer upgrade will replace the existing wiring system with one that plugs into one of your computers USB ports. This upgrade will be completed on-site during late spring or early summer.
 |
Until the systems can be upgraded and batteries replaced, SNDLC recommends that you do the following:
|
- Check the PolyCom unit (see photo above) to see if it feels warm. If so, turn the unit over and open the battery compartment door located on the bottom of the unit.

- Use your thumbnails to gently disconnect the battery. Leave the unplugged battery in the battery compartment. The original battery must be exchanged in order to receive a replacement at no charge.

- If you need to use the system after disconnecting the battery, simply plug the PolyCom unit into an outside power source.

- If your battery was overheating and had to be disconnected, please notify SNDLC. We will arrange to ship you a replacement battery in exchange for the original. If the unit doesn't require an immediate exchange, SNDLC will replace the battery during the summer USB upgrade.
