Nebraska State FLBA President Uses DL Technology for Chapter Visit

Nebraska State FBLA President Justin Schultis conducts a chapter visit to Columbus Lakeview using distance learning technology
 |
One of the duties of the Nebraska State FBLA President is to conduct chapter visits. Chapters that receive visits are usually determined by which schools fall within a 60-to-90 minute driving radius from the president's home school.
Located over 100 miles away from Fairbury, Columbus Lakeview falls far outside the suggested "driving radius." But Justin Schultis, a junior at Fairbury Public High School and this year's State FBLA President, used distance learning technology overcome that barrier and be the guest speaker Columbus Lakeview's chapter meeting on January 15, 2008.
Was it successful? Justin commented that
"It was really an amazing experience! It was like being on live T.V. except I have the benefit of seeing the audience. They almost seemed more attentive than if I had been there in person."
A few pictures from the meeting follow. If you are interested in using DL technology for similar organizational meetings, for classroom enrichment, or for classroom-to-classroom projects, I am available to help get you started.
If you have questions about planning an activity, help with ideas, or learning how to use the equipment, just give me a call at 223-52277 or email me at dpenner@esu5.org. I'm also more than happy to sit in on your distance learning session to help with questions or any little glitches.
