Blair Teachers Take a Look At Their New Distance Learning Carts

Twenty-five teachers from Blair Public Schools got a first-hand look at live distance learning connections using their new DL cart

Thanks for inviting me to be part of your Technology Day at Blair Public Schools, and for choosing to attend a session on how you can use Distance Learning technology as a powerful enrichment tool in your classroom.

Try a Classroom-to-Classroom Connection! Do you have a colleague at another SNDLC school who would like to try a distance-learning enhanced project? Contact Duveen for help in getting started with ideas and planning ... opportunities are limited only by your imagination. Some of the ideas discussed during our sessions included:

Letter-writing & pen-pals Quiz Bowl or Jeopardy-style competitions Book Share Show & Tell Debates Guest Speakers Collecting data & creating charts & graphs Create math story problems & solve between classrooms "Sell Your Idea" presentation by business students

Use the cart to connect to colleagues at other schools. Share ideas, discuss common problems and great solutions, talk about what's new in your classroom or curriculum area. Participants listen to a ranger from one of our official partners at the National Parks talk about what they can offer students via distance learning.
Jesse Bolli from the Homestead National Monument explains the Buffalo Trunk, and other great resources that can enhance study about pioneers, Westward Expansion, the Homestead Act and how it affected both Native Americans and the growth and development of our country.
Teachers who attended the second session met with Ranger Chris Wilkinson from the Minuteman Missile National Historical Site.
Chris connected to us from the actual quarters where Cold War era missileers lived and worked. Schedule a visit with Chris to find out how the Cold War shaped and continues to shape our history. Sessions can be scheduled with students as young as 4th grade, all the way up through high school.
Thanks to these teachers in Session One for being great participants!
