Blair Teachers Take a Look At Their New Distance Learning Carts

distance learning connection Twenty-five teachers from Blair Public Schools got a first-hand look at live distance learning connections using their new DL cart

Hello Everyone,

Thanks for inviting me to be part of your Technology Day at Blair Public Schools, and for choosing to attend a session on how you can use Distance Learning technology as a powerful enrichment tool in your classroom.

Scroll down to see if you are in any of the photos posted here ... but first, please glance through this summary of how you can incorporate distance learning into your classroom:

Connect to one of our official educational partners.
Click here to find out more
about the National Parks we work with, and the Henry Doorly Zoo, or take an online look at the handout you received during your session. The back page of the handout includes a handy list of contact information,

Try a Classroom-to-Classroom Connection! Do you have a colleague at another SNDLC school who would like to try a distance-learning enhanced project? Contact Duveen for help in getting started with ideas and planning ... opportunities are limited only by your imagination. Some of the ideas discussed during our sessions included:

Letter-writing & pen-pals spacegreyball Quiz Bowl or Jeopardy-style competitions spacegreyball Book Share spacegreyball Show & Tell spacegreyball Debates spacegreyball Guest Speakers spacegreyballCollecting data & creating charts & graphs spacegreyball Create math story problems & solve between classrooms spacegreyball"Sell Your Idea"space presentation by business students space

Use the cart to connect to colleagues at other schools. Share ideas, discuss common problems and great solutions, talk about what's new in your classroom or curriculum area. You can meet after school without any drive-time ... a simple "click" connects you. Click here for a list of SNDLC schools and what kind of distance learning connection options each school has.

And remember: I am available to help with ideas, planning, learning how to use the equipment and also to sit in on your distance learning session to help with questions and any little glitches. Just give me a call at 223-52277 or email me at dpenner@esu5.org. You can also contact me via your DL cart; ask Mark Dickinson - he can show you how.

A few pictures from Friday's sessions follow. Thanks for being such great participants ... I'm looking forward to working with you as you explore distance learning opportunities for your students.

Chris connected to us from the actual quarters where Cold War era missileers lived and worked. Schedule a visit with Chris to find out how the Cold War shaped and continues to shape our history. Sessions can be scheduled with students as young as 4th grade, all the way up through high school. SPACER
