TWO-FOR-ONE DEAL:

The same technology agreement that brings you the new Media Cart is also your chance to get another IP phone!

If the fax machine in your Distance Learning room has a handset, you already have access to one of the newest technologies on the market: IP telephony.

Your voice is transported via fiber cable, not over telephone lines. You can call any other SNDLC classroom that has a fax machine with a handset. This new technology also provides you direct voice communication with Natalie at the SNDLC office (5000) or DFS, our service provider in York (1000).

The same technology agreement that makes the new Media Carts available to SNDLC member schools also provides the opportunity for you at add a second IP telephone.

A port is available to add another IP Phone line into SNDLC school districts. K-Nection is willing to purchase the second license for each member district, provided that the school purchases the telephone.

The school district can decide on the location of the phone to be attached to the second port. However, any additional wiring needed to make that connection would be the responsibility of the member school.

Activating the second IP Phone Port would enhance communication between school districts via the DL network:
  • The teacher in the Distance Learning room could use the handset on the fax machine to communicate with the principal at a remote site.
  • Principals to talk to each other via an IP phone connection, and avoid all long-distance charges.

Remember: As with faxing, voice communication is limited to other SNDLC sites only.
